I’ve been asking my friends and mentors for advice on a big decision. Their responses are divided almost perfectly by their age. Should I pursue a career or a friendship. This predicts exactly the advice I’ve been given. Emotion-related goals have been the obvious motivation of the older, while the younger suggest the future pay-offs of “knowledge-related” goals.
